Is a serving job worth it?

You earn your money mainly with tips, so leaving with your money after each shift can be refreshing and extremely motivating. Working fewer hours, but still earning money. You often have the opportunity to work busy shifts, but you end up earning a day's pay in a few hours.

Service jobs

are a great option for students, parents, caregivers, or anyone else who has a non-traditional working schedule available.

I would definitely choose to serve rather than retail. I have worked in both and have made much more money serving. The only exception would be if you had a job where you earned commissions and turned out to be a charming salesperson. Apart from that, the service tends to allow for a great deal of flexible schedules (provided you can work nights, weekends and holidays) and a fantastic ratio between the time spent and the amount of money earned in that period of time.

When I worked in corporate restaurants, they offered me health benefits if I chose to work full time, so serving has the potential to be comparable to an entry-level job in that regard. I've come to the devastating conclusion that I'm stuck between a job in retail or a job as a waiter in a restaurant.
